Singer and songwriter Sara Groves describes this new project, Fireflies and Songs, which will be released November 17, 2009, as her songwriter's album. Her two previous albums, Beauty and Tell Me What You Know, have focused on certain themes and were written as poetic commentary about social injustic and impoverishment. This album will be focused on the artist herself, Listeners will get a look into the life of a wife, mother, daughter and friend as Sara reflects from personal experiences and her relationship with God in these roles
Sara Groves has quite a following. Her 2007 album release Tell Me What You Know, an extended debut was the #1 album on iTunes Christian and Gospel chart. When it comes to songwriting, Sara influences the influencers. Many Contemporary Christian singers and songwriters have claimed to be fans and have been influenced by Sara's work including Natalie Grant, Jars of Clay, Nichole Nordeman, and Point of Grace

Listeners will relate easily to songs from this new album. Sara calls out to God in response to tangible and recurring anxiety in the song From This One Place. A flowing, but moody ballad, Eyes Wide Open is both confessional and declaritive. The lyrics talk about self discovery. Sara states, "I’ve got layers of lies that I don’t even know about yet."
The message behind this song is scripturally based on I Corinthians 9:24. "Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize."(NIV)
Sara speaks from the heart as she works through her own life experiences and shares them through song. She wants to finish well, the race of life and know that in the end, she spoke truth.
To Have and To Hold From This Day Forward
The gently pleading of the song, It's Me, is bold and reassuring as it paints a personal picture of the conflict couples experience as they pursue a genuine marriage relationship. Husbands and wives are not always going to agree, but it is how they handle the conflict that determines the outcome.
Sara sings openly about life and marriage in many of her songs.She expresses a desire to help nurture marriages by being open about her own fifteen year marriage and the couple's struggles and lessons learned along the way.One of these songs is entitled Different Kinds of Happy. Sometimes a husband or wife may want to ask his or her spouse about a sensitive subject in their marriage, but be afraid of the conflict that might arise from that discussion. Sara encourages couples to not be afraid to openly communicate with one another and work through conflict. Life may not always be pleasant. There are different kinds of happiness, but Love will never fail.
Sara Groves Tell Me What You KnowThis is Sara's first album that is mostly about her own personal experiences. She expressed in a recent interview that she worked hard not to teach on this album. She feels she's a natural born teacher, but this time, she turned everything into a lesson for herself and for the people around her. Most fans will agree that's how most people learn about and process life. Listening to Sara sing, most people will not come away feeling judged or condemned, but inspired and encouraged. Sara's personal reflections are so heartfelt, it's as though she was sitting at a table with friends enjoying life. Sara brings everyone into her own life and they in return bring her into theirs as they relate to her stories.
